Vice President, Operations
COMPANY:
A multi-site private equity-backed orthopedic practice based in the Northeast US.
REPORTS/RELATIONSHIPS:
This position will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Operations.
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
The individual who occupies this position will play a key leadership role in driving excellence across affiliated orthopedic practices. This position focuses on workflow optimization, financial management, resource allocation, and leadership development to support strategic growth and success. The Vice President will implement process improvements, waste reduction strategies, vendor optimization, and technology enhancements to align with both the practice and MSO’s goals.
Specific duties will include, but not necessarily be limited to:
- Collaborate with site leadership to identify, develop, and implement workflow improvements and expense reduction initiatives.
- Oversee practice right-sizing efforts, labor budgeting, and clinical margin optimization.
- Eliminate redundant processes through provider and teammate interviews and operational assessments.
- Support job role evolution (e.g., hybridized positions) with updated job descriptions and competency management.
- Evaluate and recommend tools and technologies to enhance patient workflows, reporting, and audit processes.
- Partner with supply chain teams to improve inventory systems and vendor contract optimization.
- Analyze practice-level P&L statements to ensure alignment with financial goals, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction or revenue optimization.
- Support development and implementation of operational budgets, ensuring alignment with financial goals and strategic initiatives.
- Manage cost-saving opportunities, including labor optimization and expense reduction strategies.
- Conduct data-driven financial analyses to identify efficiencies and support decision-making.
- Optimize vendor contracts and partnerships to achieve cost savings and operational goals.
- Collaborate with Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs) to evaluate and transition supply contracts.
- Perform inventory system reviews and implement process improvements to streamline procurement, as needed.
- Support planning, piloting, and integration of new service lines (e.g., urgent care, cash-pay clinics).
- Collaborate with practice leadership to evaluate opportunities for market expansion and specialty services.
- Align growth initiatives with operational capacity, financial goals, and patient demand.
- Support the integration, optimization, and adoption of operational systems (e.g., EHRs, intake software, phone queue management, practice management tools etc.).
- Drive digital transformation to enhance patient engagement, reporting capabilities, and workflow automation.
- Ensure data accuracy and leverage analytics for informed decision-making and performance tracking.
- Serve as a key liaison between MSO leadership, practice sites, and external partners with the ability to motivate, drive accountability, and ensure alignment and execution of initiatives.
- Oversee resource allocation and ensure appropriate staffing levels for operational and clinical demands.
- Facilitate ongoing communication between clinical, administrative, and executive teams.
- Engage teammates, providers, and stakeholders to drive adoption and successful implementation of initiatives.
- Support leadership development through mentoring, performance reviews, and professional growth opportunities.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Management, or related field required; Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, or equivalent) preferred.
- 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations, preferably within multi-site private physician practices, ambulatory surgical centers, or MSO settings.
- Multi-site private orthopedic management preferred.
- Proven experience in workflow optimization, cost management, vendor negotiations, and operational strategy implementation.
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Expertise in financial management, labor optimization, and operational workflows.
- Knowledge of supply chain systems, vendor contract management, and performance improvement processes.
- Proficiency in healthcare technology tools (e.g., Greenway, Phreesia, or similar platforms).
- Ability to analyze data to drive informed decision-making and performance improvements.
- Results-oriented, with a strategic mindset and ability to execute high-impact initiatives.
- Collaborative leader with a focus on team engagement and stakeholder alignment.
- Adaptable and detail-oriented, with critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel regularly to practice sites as needed.

COMPENSATION:
Compensation will be commensurate with experience including a competitive base salary, bonus opportunity, and competitive benefits package.
