Vice President, Human Resources

A multi-site private equity-backed orthopedic practice based in the Northeast US.

REPORTS/RELATIONSHIPS:

This position will report directly to ­­­­the President / Chief Operating Officer.

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

The Vice President of Human Resources (VP of HR) is a key strategic leader responsible for developing and overseeing the execution of HR strategies, policies, and programs across the organization. This position ensures alignment of the HR function with the company’s mission, operational goals, and growth objectives. The VP of HR drives initiatives that foster a high-performing, engaged, and inclusive culture while providing leadership and support to local HR Directors. Additionally, the position ensures compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements, promoting operational excellence, and organizational success.   

Specific duties will include, but not necessarily be limited to:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and initiatives that align with the organization’s vision and strategic goals.
  • Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership on workforce planning, organizational development, and succession planning.
  • Collaborate with leadership to drive initiatives that support employee engagement, retention, and company culture.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on people-related matters and HR best practices.
  • Oversee end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to attract and retain top talent.
  • Develop and implement leadership development programs and talent pipelines for key roles.
  • Partner with HR Directors and local leadership to assess training needs and create robust employee development programs.
  • Drive initiatives that build organizational capability and foster a culture of continuous learning.
  • Develop and implement competitive compensation, benefits, and incentive programs that attract, motivate, and retain talent.
  • Lead performance management processes, including goal-setting frameworks, evaluations, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Establish and monitor key HR metrics to measure effectiveness of HR programs and their alignment with company objectives.
  • Oversee the implementation and optimization of HRIS and other HR technology solutions to streamline processes and ensure data integrity.
  • Ensure standardization of HR processes, policies, and procedures across all locations.
  • Partner with finance and operations teams to align HR strategies with budgeting and resource planning efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Monitor HR policies and practices to minimize risk and maintain audit readiness.
  • Develop and implement processes for addressing employee relations, grievances, and workplace investigations in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Drive initiatives that foster a collaborative, respectful, and inclusive workplace environment.
  • Promote equal opportunity and ensure fair treatment across all organizational levels.
  • Develop programs that enhance employee engagement, belonging, and overall satisfaction.
  • Partner with leadership to identify opportunities for fostering a supportive and diverse workforce that reflects organizational values.
  • Ensure policies and practices encourage an environment where all team members feel valued, respected, and empowered to succeed.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including experience in multi-site healthcare or MSO settings.
  • Proven track record of strategic HR leadership, talent management, and organizational development.
  • Strong understanding of HR operations, compensation, benefits, performance management, and compliance.
  • Expertise in HR technology systems (e.g., HRIS, payroll platforms) and data analytics tools.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to align HR strategies with organizational goals and execute high-impact initiatives.
  • Results-driven, strategic thinker with a focus on organizational and cultural development.
  • Collaborative leader with strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Adaptable, detail-oriented, and capable of managing change within a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to travel as needed to organizational sites and events.
  • Hybrid work environment with flexibility based on operational demands.
  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary to meet project timelines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree (MBA, MHRM, or equivalent) preferred.


COMPENSATION:

Compensation will be commensurate with experience including a competitive base salary, bonus opportunity, and competitive benefits package.
