Operating Partner, Finance

COMPANY:

A Southeast-based lower-middle-market private equity firm specializing in the consumer services sector.

REPORTS/RELATIONSHIPS:

The Operating Partner, Finance will work closely with ­­­­the firm’s investment team as well as other operating partners and portfolio company executives.

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

The Operating Partner, Finance (OPF) will play a central role in driving value creation and key business outcomes for the company and its portfolio companies. This individual will spearhead a variety of financial and operational initiatives across all current and future portfolio companies and ensure a strong partnership with executive team members. The OPF will work collaboratively with other members of the company team to develop, implement, and drive the overarching strategy of the firm to maximize business outcomes of each portfolio company.

Specific duties will include, but not necessarily be limited to:

  • Partner closely with company’s investment team on acquisition activity for platform and add-on investments including financial, technological, and operational due diligence.
  • Conduct needs assessment and analysis of existing company financials to identify opportunities for revenue growth, cost reduction, and operational improvement.
  • Establish performance metrics and KPIs to monitor and measure financial and operational results, including effective cash management across the portfolio.
  • Develop and implement scalable financial and operational processes and systems to drive results in both early and late stages of the investment life cycle.
  • Oversee the build-out and implementation of satisfactory financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and business intelligence capabilities through close partnership with the outsourced accounting group, investment team, executive leaders of portfolio companies, and third-party consultants (as needed). Serve as CFO and business partner to portfolio companies, assisting in the ongoing analysis and reporting of financial and operational KPIs.
  • Build ROI analysis and strategic business plans while delivering hands-on execution of all projects.
  • Develop and manage vendor partnerships, specifically the outsourced accounting group, to deliver timely, cost-efficient, and high-quality results.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team on managing and delivering the financial targets of the firm.
 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10+ years of validated experience building and leading FP&A functions to drive financial results.
  • Experience in an acquisitive private equity-backed small or medium-sized business within the consumer sector preferred.
  • Intellectually curious with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for building high-quality businesses and teams.
  • Organized, diligent, and comfortable leading projects and supporting executive teams across existing and potential portfolio companies.
  • Technologically sound; hands-on experience with a variety of financial/business systems while leveraging technological knowledge to improve business outcomes.
  • Motivated and energetic leader who is results-oriented and driven by long-term goals.
  • Exceptional decision-maker with an engaging and entrepreneurial leadership style.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
 

LOCATION:

The location of this position can be flexible, with a preference for a major metro market in the Southeast, and will require minimal travel.

COMPENSATION:

Compensation will be commensurate with experience including a competitive base salary, bonus opportunity, and competitive benefits package.
