Case Study: State University Provost Search and Placement

The Situation:

A state university retained CLCB to recruit an experienced provost to lead all academic components of this growing entity. The president’s mandate was to restore trust with staff and faculty, build a culture of innovation and best-in-class instruction and ultimately drive increased enrollment and student retention.

The Process:

The CLCB search team conducted a comprehensive listening tour with the president, select trustees, faculty, staff and students. As a result, a detailed position description, search strategy, and ideal candidate profile were produced to create alignment between CLCB and client. Through deep research and aggressive sourcing, the CLCB team recruited and presented a well-rounded slate of candidates and over subsequent weeks partnered intimately with search committee and president to conduct rigorous evaluation of a group of finalists, ultimately resulting in a successful close of the search.

The Results:

CLCB successfully recruited an experienced provost with demonstrated experience in successfully building and leading a best-in-class academic program at an aspirant university. The provost, in partnership with the faculty senate and others, created a culture of innovation, collaboration and high performance among the team. The addition of new majors and options for remote and hybrid learning drove favorable increases in student enrollment, retention and satisfaction.
