The Situation:

This case study involved a private equity firm that retained CLCB to recruit an experienced executive to lead the transition of a founder-owned $25M home services business into a professional platform company to be the acquirer of choice as its first institutional investor. The CEO’s mandate was to successfully partner with founding family members in the creation of platform company leadership team, technology, and strategy to deliver on growth objectives.

The Process:

The CLCB search team conducted a rigorous and comprehensive listening tour with both key members of the private equity firm and the local management team through a series of in-person meetings. As a result, a detailed position description, search strategy, and ideal candidate profile were produced to create alignment between CLCB and client. Through deep research and aggressive sourcing, the CLCB team recruited a well-rounded slate of candidates and over subsequent weeks partnered closely with client to conduct rigorous evaluation of a group of finalists ultimately driving the search to a successful close.

The Results:

CLCB successfully recruited a highly motivated and experienced service industry leader with previous private equity experience. The CEO subsequently led the company through a significant M&A strategy, completing over 20 deals and ultimately delivering the most successful investment returns in the private equity firm’s 40-year history, including receiving national recognition for Mid-Market Deal of the Year. Following a highly successful exit, the company and existing leadership team have continued a successful growth journey with a new sponsor and CLCB has continued to partner with the company under new PE ownership on key leadership searches.
