Chief Operating Officer

REPORTS/RELATIONSHIPS:
This position will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) serves as a strategic partner and content expert to the Chief Executive Officer, providing operational leadership and stewardship to ensure the long-term sustainability and mission success of the company. The COO provides strategic and operational leadership for all program operations, including behavioral health, substance use services, and residential support. This executive ensures operational excellence, quality of care, and sustainable long-term success of existing and future program offerings, fostering a culture of compassion and accountability.
Specific duties will include, but not necessarily be limited to:
- Lead all aspects of program operations to ensure efficiency, high-quality service, and alignment with organizational goals.
- Partner with the CEO and executive team to drive a unified, multi-state-wide vision, expanding programs, and deepening community impact.
- Provide key input on operational capabilities, requirements, and solutions to support the execution of organizational strategies; utilize technology as needed for optimized operations.
- Partner with the CEO to evaluate growth opportunities that address critical community needs and are aligned with organizational mission and vision.
- Maintain compliance with Medicaid, CARF, HIPAA, and other regulatory standards, ensuring excellent clinical care.
- Collaborate with CFO to develop and manage annual operating budget; ensure financial accountability and sustainability across program operations and service lines.
- Guide and mentor multi-disciplinary teams, fostering a supportive, person-centered culture.
- Build relationships with partners, legislators, and community members to enhance the organization’s reputation and reach.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in behavioral health, human services, nonprofit healthcare, or nonprofit management.
- Bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred in healthcare administration, social work, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing complex, multi-state operations with diverse programs and funding streams.
- Deep understanding of Medicaid, state regulations, and behavioral health service delivery models.
- Proven ability to lead with compassion, empathy, and resilience.
- Ability to turn vision into actionable, measurable operational plans.
- Proven management and leadership capabilities; demonstratable competency in strategic planning and program development.
- Influencer; ability to lead through change and growth.
COMPENSATION:
Compensation will be commensurate with experience, including a competitive salary and a competitive benefits package.
