Vice President of Operations

COMPANY:

A full-service provider of commercial facilities services to multiple customers and end markets with a primary focus on recurring maintenance.

REPORTS/RELATIONSHIPS:

This position will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and lead a team of branch managers as well as fleet management and purchasing. This role will also manage a construction manager.

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

The Vice President of Operations is responsible for leading all field operations across the organization, ensuring the safe, efficient, and profitable execution of commercial facilities maintenance, enhancement, and construction services. This executive leader partners closely with sales, finance, human resources, and executive leadership to drive operational excellence, support organic growth, improve profitability, and successfully integrate acquired businesses.

Specific duties will include, but not necessarily be limited to:

  • Provide leadership and oversight for all branch operations, ensuring consistent execution of company standards, financial objectives, and customer expectations.
  • Develop, coach, and hold accountable branch managers and operational leadership to achieve key performance indicators related to safety, revenue, gross margin, labor productivity, customer retention, and employee engagement.
  • Partner with the sales organization to ensure operational alignment, successful onboarding of new clients, and profitable execution of awarded work.
  • Participate in the development of annual operating budgets and ongoing financial forecasting while maintaining accountability for operational performance against plan.
  • Drive labor productivity initiatives, workforce planning, scheduling, equipment utilization, and continuous operational improvement.
  • Develop and execute workforce planning strategies that ensure appropriate staffing levels across all branches.
  • Lead weekly operational reviews utilizing financial and operational metrics to identify risks, implement corrective actions, and improve overall branch performance.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, leadership development, employee engagement, and operational excellence throughout the organization.
  • Oversee companywide safety initiatives and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Provide executive oversight of fleet operations, equipment utilization, replacement planning, and asset management.
  • Partner with finance to improve forecasting accuracy, operational reporting, cost controls, and overall business performance.
  • Lead operational due diligence and post-acquisition integration activities, including implementation of company operating standards, systems, and processes.
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of operational technology platforms, including Aspire.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and execute strategic initiatives that support long-term growth and scalability.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive operations leadership experience within the commercial facilities services industry is strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple branches, regional operations, or multilocation service businesses.
  • Working knowledge of commercial facilities services, construction, and enhancement operations strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading operations for a multilocation commercial facilities or route-based services organization with significant operational scale, including responsibility for multiple branches, P&L performance, labor management, fleet operations, and operational leadership.
  • Experience leading organizations with annual revenues exceeding $100 million is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success developing high-performing operational leaders and building strong leadership pipelines.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, labor productivity, forecasting, and operational performance metrics.
  • Proven ability to build cross-functional partnerships with sales, finance, human resources, and executive leadership.
  • Experience integrating acquisitions and standardizing operational processes is highly desirable.
  • Aspire software experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Periodic travel to support branch operations, acquisitions, and operational integration initiatives.
  • College degree required.
