Chief Financial Officer
COMPANY:
A privately held wholesale produce distributor with locations throughout the Southeast.
REPORTS/RELATIONSHIPS:
The Chief Financial Officer reports to the owner/CEO.
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and executive leadership team, with full responsibility for the financial health, integrity and long-term growth of the organization. This includes the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. The CFO provides leadership and coordination in the administrative, business planning, information technology, human resources, accounting, and budgeting efforts of the organization. The CFO is responsible for managing total assets.
Specific duties will include, but not necessarily be limited to:
- Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team, assist in formulating the company’s future direction and support tactical initiatives.
- Develop financial and tax strategies and work closely with owners to report financial results and risk issues.
- Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans and develop performance measures that support the strategic direction.
- Manage capital requests, budgeting, and financing processes.
- Create new ways of utilizing technology to streamline reporting, forecasting, and regular tasks to allow department to run more efficiently and drive greater impact to the business.
- Monitor and forecast company cash flow and working capital on a monthly basis.
- Manage and oversee all company insurance and liability.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a senior-level financial role in distribution, ideally food-related.
- Experience working effectively with fast-paced, growth-focused entrepreneurial owners.
- Proven experience developing and leading high-performing teams responsible for strategic finance and accounting.
- Mergers and acquisitions experience is a plus.
- Sound finance and accounting experience balanced with exemplary strategic acumen.
- Experience utilizing AI and other technology to drive favorable financial impact; strong data orientation.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as federal and state laws, legal documents, safety rules, and operating and procedure manuals.
- Strong ability to communicate concisely, both orally and written, to effectively report financials.
- Highly collaborative; able to establish rapport and influence for the good of the enterprise.
- Ability to perform advanced calculations and formulas.
- Naturally curious; listens and learns from others.
- Solutions-oriented with the ability to multitask and work independently as required.
- Bias for action; ability to move quickly.
- College degree required; MBA or CPA preferred.
- Must work out of the company’s Pompano Beach, Florida offices.
COMPENSATION:
Compensation will be commensurate with experience, including a competitive base salary, bonus opportunity, and competitive benefits package.
