Chief Financial Officer
COMPANY:
A private equity-backed distributor based in the Southeast.
REPORTS/RELATIONSHIPS:
The Chief Financial Officer reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serves on the executive leadership team.
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
The Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for leading all finance and accounting activities of the company and will serve as a key business partner to the CEO and senior management team. This individual will also interact extensively with the PE firm, the Board of Directors, and the company’s financing partners.
Specific duties will include but are not limited to:
- Manage the company’s accounting and finance functions, including leadership of the team and department broadly.
- Further develop and manage financial reporting activities including all key accounting processes and procedures, the monthly close and reporting process, and the annual financial statement audit.
- Direct and coordinate all aspects of the company’s financial planning, budgeting, cash flow, and related matters such as an annual budget, weekly cash flow projections, and ongoing financial forecasts and analyses.
- Support the evaluation, execution, and integration of acquisition opportunities.
- Prepare financial statements and analysis for monthly management reporting packages, quarterly Board presentations, and lender compliance reports.
- Provide analytical and operational support for key profit-enhancing tasks including but not limited to improved sales efforts, margin enhancement, operational efficiency and productivity, inventory and working capital optimization, and strategic acquisitions.
- Implement and manage KPIs to drive optimal company performance and organic growth.
- Support the development and enhancement of the company’s IT infrastructure to fit the needs of the finance and accounting function.
- Assist in evaluating and managing strategic partnerships, vendor relationships, and other service providers such as attorneys.
- Establish and maintain appropriate internal controls and safeguards.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in the finance function and serving in the lead finance role, ideally for a standalone middle-market company.
- Experience in a value-added distribution or service business.
- Prior experience with a private equity-backed company is strongly preferred.
- Experience with acquisitions, including due diligence and integration, is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Detail-oriented, but at the same time strategic.
- Operationally oriented, hands-on, and data-/KPI-driven.
- Down to earth, collaborative, high energy, and results driven.
- Comfortable working in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced organization where people wear multiple hats.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
- BS degree in accounting or finance; MBA and/or CPA is a plus.
COMPENSATION:
Compensation will be commensurate with experience including a competitive base salary, bonus opportunity, equity, and competitive benefits package.
