Director of Sales

COMPANY:

Southeast-based manufacturer and marketer of medical devices.

REPORTS/RELATIONSHIPS:

This position will report directly to ­­­­the Senior Vice President of Growth and manage a sales team that includes both field and inside sales representatives.

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

The individual who occupies this position will be responsible for profit and revenues for US sales. The Director of Sales will work with the SVP of Growth to develop sales strategies and tactics, and successfully implement the plans. This position will be based at company headquarters in the Southeast US, with travel as needed.

Specific duties will include, but not necessarily be limited to:

  • Develop impactful and cost-efficient programs to increase the sales funnel and grow and improve relationships with customers.
  • Implement and drive a results-oriented sales function with clear metrics and reporting.
  • Effectively convert strategies into tactical deployment that meets sales/growth targets and company objectives.
  • Lead and motivate the sales team, including the building and growth of the team; create innovative compensation plans/incentives to motivate the team; mentor team members as needed.
  • Plan and execute sales of the company’s products, and constantly evaluate all sales activities to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
  • Develop, validate, and implement all strategies and actions required to meet sales goals for managing the accounts, in accordance with given budget.
  • Prepare and validate business reviews.
  • Ensure proper management of accounts.
  • Maintain a good business relationship with every company product group stakeholder.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in sales and account management, including leading and developing a sales team.
  • Proven ability to sell a tactical product, with demonstrated experience in, and concrete examples of, driving revenue growth and profitability, and increasing units sold.
  • Proven ability to manage a P&L; meet budget and meet/exceed goals.
  • Results- and action-oriented.
  • Possess both analytical and strategic thinking skills; be a problem-solver; must be tactical, able to develop tactics with sales team members, as well as be strategic on a “big-picture” level with entire team.
  • Ensure the development of excellent customer relationships and delivery of excellent customer service on all customer accounts.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to lead a team, including demonstrated ability to create innovative compensation plans/incentives to motivate sales team; team-building skills, ability to develop, mentor, and grow a team.
  • Adaptable and agile.
  • Able to travel, including two annual trade shows, and monthly visits to territories/the field, or as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience.

COMPENSATION:

Compensation will be commensurate with experience including a competitive base salary, bonus opportunity, and competitive benefits package.
