Chief Financial Officer


Based in the South-Central region of the United States, the company is a leading provider of wireless infrastructure services to the telecommunication industry. The company’s footprint spans the Southern, Central, Midwest, and Pacific Northwest regions of the United States, serving all major telecom carriers and tower owners. A portfolio company of a leading middle market private equity firm, our client has ambitious growth plans through a combination of growth and acquisitions in the coming years.


The Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) reports to the Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) and will work with a team of accounting professionals.




The CFO will be a key senior executive responsible for all financial, accounting, and analytical support to the organization as well as overseeing the IT function. This role will report to the CEO and will lead the overall finance, planning, and analysis unit with responsibility and oversight for all financial reporting, asset/liability management, budget and forecasting and financial planning needs, lender relationships, treasury management, and act as the primary interface for all banking, tax, and audit stakeholders. The CFO will be a member of the leadership team, contributing to strategic and operational matters and decisions through hands-on analytical support and will need to contribute his/her voice to enhance the Company’s reporting and analysis capabilities to further expand the capabilities of the Company’s strategic finance function.

The CFO will inherit a stable financial and operating reporting function; however, opportunities exist to upgrade systems and processes, improve FP&A, and support the Company’s continued growth. Further, the executive’s challenge will be to build upon the current financial reporting function to allow the Company’s finance operations and team to become a more value-added and analytical partner to the senior leadership team of the company as important strategic, operational, and acquisition-related decisions are made.


  • Reporting to and working closely as a key business partner to the CEO, the CFO provides strategic direction and leadership to the finance, accounting, and analytical support functions of the Company.
  • Defines and gains approval alongside the senior leadership team for the Company’s annual business plan, operating budget, and capital budget as a function of the strategic plan and current priorities, and measures and manages ongoing performance against those budgets.
  • Oversees all aspects of internal and external financial reporting including financial reports to fellow executives, the Board, Audit Committee, lenders, and investors. Ensures that the Company’s financial statements fairly represent the financial position of the organization and the results of its operations. In doing so, ensures the effective design and operation of the Company’s systems of internal controls over financial reporting, and compliance with US GAAP. Supports all external audits and compliance reporting for the company.
  • Oversees the company’s annual budgeting process and forecasting. Develops financial models and analyzes trends to prepare forecasts, budgets, and management reports. Develops, refines, and reports on key performance indicators for the business. Measures and reports and investigates the Company’s performance against plan and monitors profitability, cash flow, and financial stability.
  • Oversees the identification and monitoring of financial and operational risks and controls, and the development of strategies to address those risks. The CFO is responsible for research, design, tests, documentation, and implementation of the best-of-breed financial systems controls, policies, and procedures, ensuring appropriate certification and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Oversees the treasury function and development of strategies for capital budgeting and debt financing (in partnership with private equity firm). Assists in the negotiations of all master banking arrangements, ensures that all operating lines, cash management, and short-term investments support the needs of the company in a cost-effective manner. Ensures the systems are in place to manage compliance with all debt covenants. Works with current and potential future banking relationships to implement an optimal cash management system.
  • Oversees the tax compliance and planning in conjunction with external advisors, ensures the company is planning and managing its tax position in a manner that minimizes any tax liabilities. Ensures the timely and accurate preparation and filing of all tax returns.
  • Works closely with the senior leadership team, private equity firm, and the Board, as relevant, on add-on acquisitions and other strategic initiatives, which will eventually include a sale of the Company.
  • Leads the financial integration of acquisitions.
  • Works closely with the senior leadership team to advise and make presentations to the Board of Directors and private equity firm and potentially other third parties on a regular basis to report on the financial affairs of the company and to provide professional advice regarding the achievement and status of overall corporate objectives and finance programs and strategies. Ensures the Audit Committee of the Board has the information and analysis it needs to meet its fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Develops, mentors, and hires as needed for the Finance Team to build the succession pipeline and generally strengthen and improve the capacity of the finance function.
  • Oversees a thoughtful integration of business systems. Ability to take leadership and oversight of the IT function during a systems integration to improve the functionality, use, and integration of existing systems as well as the implementation and upgrade of new systems (i.e., ERP).
  • Assists in continuing to instill a culture of accountability for results throughout the organization.
  • Partners with business unit leaders and project management office for project costing and project management results, including but not limited to, revenue recognition based on percentage of completion, project accruals, project margin analysis, and reporting.


The Company has grown quickly through organic growth and acquisitions and is seeking a strong CFO to enhance the overall financial reporting capabilities, to help drive strategic, data-driven decision-making across the organization. As the Company embarks on a ‘One Company’ initiative and seeks to leverage its growing scale, a dedicated executive is required to help coordinate financial reporting capabilities across different entities. The CFO will work closely with senior leadership to develop improved internal reporting capabilities and KPIs. Finally, the CFO will likely see his or her portfolio of responsibilities grow as the Company continues executing on an aggressive acquisition thesis.


  • Experience: The ideal candidate possesses a minimum of [10] years of experience in various financial roles and [3+] years in a position equivalent to a CFO managing a team-based accounting function utilizing project-based percentage of completion revenue recognition; prior experience with private equity is preferred but not required; strong technology skills; hands-on experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skill.
  • Education/Credentials: An undergraduate degree combined with an accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA or CPA).
  • M&A: Knowledge and experience supporting strategic acquisitions.
  • Managing/Partnering with Remote Teams: Demonstrated ability to guide multiple teams and stay on task in a remote work environment.
  • Communications: An excellent oral and written communicator. Proactive communicator with a keen sense of how to deeply connect with people and build trust. Able to effectively explain and articulate strategic, financial, and business fundamentals to a variety of people, with varying degrees of financial and business knowledge, both internally and externally. Internally, can engage people across the organization and foster buy-in to new ideas and concepts.
  • Fosters Relationships: Has developed excellent relationships with a broad range of people within his/her organization and has a keen ability to develop relationships with customers. Ability to work collaboratively with key internal and external leaders, partners, and advisors. Is very comfortable reporting to and working with a private equity firm and Board.
