REPORTS/RELATIONSHIPS:
This position will report directly to ­­­the Chief Executive Officer and leads a team of 34.

BASIC FUNCTIONS:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a strategic partner and advisor to the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors, providing financial leadership and stewardship to ensure the long-term sustainability and mission success of Easterseals PORT Health. The CFO oversees all aspects of financial strategy, revenue cycle management, contract and rate management, systems and data optimization, and information technology operations. This role ensures the organization maintains financial integrity, operational efficiency, and compliance across its diverse funding and payer landscape. The CFO leads with a mission-driven, data-informed approach to resource allocation, innovation, and organizational growth.

Specific duties will include, but not necessarily be limited to:

  • Partner with the CEO, board, and executive team to develop and execute financial strategies that advance the organization’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Provide forward-looking financial insight, modeling, and forecasting to support decision making and sustainability in a multi-cost-center environment.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor, balancing mission priorities with fiscal responsibility and performance.
  • Oversee all revenue cycle management functions, including billing, collections, reimbursement optimization, and payer relations across Medicaid, Medicare, managed care, and private payers.
  • Implement strategies to improve cash flow, accelerate reimbursements, and reduce denials while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure integrity and efficiency in all revenue recognition and reporting processes.
  • Lead payer and vendor contract negotiations to achieve optimal reimbursement and service terms.
  • Manage rate setting and cost methodologies that support sustainable program operations and funding diversification.
  • Collaborate with program and development leaders to align financial structures with mission outcomes and funding opportunities.
  • Drive modernization and integration of financial and operational systems to strengthen data quality, accessibility, and insight.
  • Partner with IT leadership to ensure technology supports operational efficiency, security, and organizational scalability.
  • Champion the use of analytics and performance dashboards to enhance transparency and strategic decision making.
  • Direct all financial operations including accounting, treasury, audit, and compliance functions.
  • Ensure accurate, timely financial reporting in alignment with GAAP and regulatory standards.
  • Lead the development of annual budgets, multiyear forecasts, and scenario plans that guide the organization’s financial health and growth.
  • Oversee insurance, banking, and investment relationships to protect and optimize agency resources.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team in finance, revenue cycle, and IT focused on excellence, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Promote financial literacy and data-informed decision making throughout the organization.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and mission alignment within all operational functions.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally in nonprofit healthcare, behavioral health, or human services; three to five years of experience in public accounting.
  • Expertise in Medicaid/Medicare reimbursement, managed care contracting, and value-based or outcomes-based funding models.
  • Proven experience leading system integration, data optimization, and cross-functional teams.
  • Background in real estate/facilities management in a multisite environment is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to inspire trust and drive organizational excellence; ability to communicate effectively internally as well as with external clients.

  • Proven experience in change management initiatives.
  • Strategic thinker who anticipates challenges and leverages data to guide the organization forward.

  • CPA is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field is required; MBA is preferred.


COMPENSATION:
Compensation will be commensurate with experience including a competitive base salary and a competitive benefits package.
