Chief Financial Officer / Chief Operations Officer (CFO/COO)

COMPANY:
Southeast-based US division of international manufacturer and distributor of products for the natural stone industry.

REPORTS/RELATIONSHIPS:
This position will report to ­­the CEO of the US division and the Group CFO at the international parent company, and will lead a team of approximately 15 direct reports.

BASIC FUNCTIONS:
The Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operations Officer (CFO/COO) is expected to­­­­­ serve as an integral part of the company and make an immediate impact to the company’s success, leading finance and accounting, along with logistics and purchasing, human resources and information technology, and supporting the US CEO operationally. As a trusted member of the management team, the CFO/COO will provide accurate and timely financial data while supporting both short- and long-term goals and initiatives.

Specific duties will include, but not necessarily be limited to:

  • Advise the US CEO on strategic initiatives and key planning issues that relate to and impact the profitability of the company.
  • Work closely with leadership to identify growth opportunities, and develop strategies, goals, and objectives to drive growth and profitability; optimize internal business operations to increase efficiencies and create cost savings.
  • Establish financial budgets and manage the manufacturing operations to meet and/or exceed budget and operating expectations; support capital investment and cash planning needs.
  • Maintain adequate accounting and financial records, ensuring accurate and timely completion of standard procedures (i.e., month-end and year-end closing, financial statement preparation and analysis, and daily accounting transactions), and consistently enhance controls and business solutions designed to mitigate financial risk.
  • Analyze monthly financial results and promote clear understanding of key financial figures and costing within the organization, including mentoring for the controlling teams.
  • Coordinate the annual audit and ensure that the auditors have all the information they need to render an accurate judgment of the company’s financial statements.
  • Develop, track, and analyze financial and operational metrics and KPIs to identify processes and improvement opportunities and ensure that business capabilities meet or exceed all requirements for performance, cost, quality, and responsiveness.
  • In alignment with the company’s values, create and continually update a strategic vision and roadmap for future work across all aspects of the business.
  • Create and drive a culture that inspires achievement/engagement and emboldens continuous improvement.
  • Manage, coach, and develop employees to promote the development of knowledge, skills, and competencies to support personal and company objectives.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Seven to 10 years of experience in a manufacturing facility or in distribution and logistics with a minimum of two years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience successfully leading all aspects of finance and accounting for a manufacturing entity with a sound understanding of GAAP, financial accounting, and internal controls.
  • Experience leading an annual budget process, developing financial models, and analyzing trends to prepare forecasts, budgets, and management reports.
  • Experience developing, measuring, and reporting on key performance indicators against a company plan, including monitoring profitability, cash flow, and financial stability.
  • Experience identifying and monitoring financial and operational risks and controls and developing strategies to address those risks.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across an organization; a high level of emotional intelligence and adaptability with the ability to work cross-functionally with leadership, peers, and subordinates at both tactical and strategic levels.
  • Strong communicator with outstanding people management skills, including a demonstrated track record of improving employee engagement and creating work cultures that inspire and provide value to employees.
  • Growth mindset and a proven track record of driving operational success and continuous improvement within manufacturing, specifically business-to-business.
  • Exceptional organizational skills; detail-oriented and analytically driven.
  • Constructive problem solver; willing to roll up sleeves without layering in overhead.
  • Assertive and proactive with high energy level and stamina.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in accounting or other finance degree or equivalent.

COMPENSATION:
Compensation will be commensurate with experience including a competitive base salary, bonus opportunity, and competitive benefits package.
